I have to say his experience was invaluable , he set a steady, slow pace which was good for us and found all the easiest routes to follow. Following him was  a treat to watch , his pace was measured , he never stumbled , wobbled or gave any indication that he was doing anything other than ambling across the polished floor of the men’s section at Debenhams. There’s no doubt that it was hard work up to a plateau about 3/4 of the way up where we stopped for a drink and a bite after about three hours and then it started raining , I mean RAINING, relentless tropical rain and the last stretch was a steep trail down with no edge protection and very slippery surface, Florian recommended that we did not attempt that part due to the conditions so we headed back.

Crossing one of the rivers

All the paths we followed on the way up had to turned to ankle deep rivers by now which we sploshed through all the way down. The three minor rivers we crossed without getting our feet wet were now up to our calves . We reached the last stretch where we were to cross the river before it drop into the waterfall feeding the gorge and Florian pulled us up short as there was a serious risk of being washed over, he find us a safe route and we made it back to the car , saturated , absolutely knackered but exhilarated all the same.
