Firstly , an apology for leaving it so long since our last blog. No excuses other than lack of Wifi , enjoying ourselves too much , laziness and too much rum . The good news is that we’ve got lots to tell you about from Dominica , our next port of call.

Dominica is the next island up from St Lucia after Martinique and is known to be the most natural island in the Caribbean. Sadly much of it was devastated during hurricane Maria in 2017 , the effects of which are still very visible. The impression is that about 20% of the buildings are still derelict wherever you go , beautiful houses with rooves ripped off , shops destroyed , forest areas levelled etc.

We arrived in Prince Rupert bay at 5.00a.m. on 5th February and anchored up in the quarantine area to await instructions from our yacht agent who we had employed to arrange our PCR test and immigration documentation . We were hailed at 9.00a.m to the cruise ship dock which had been purloined for the test. Here we completed all our entry paperwork and had our noses and throats prodded for the seventh time since we left the UK. Luckily I don’t have any tonsils because I swear they would be worn away by now. Back to the boat to sit it out for 5 days until our second test ( no fraternising allowed ) . Our agent offered to bring us some provisions as we were completely out of all the essentials and turned up next day with 2 bottles of normal rum , 2 bottles of coconut rum , 24 bottles of beer ,  12 bottles of sprite and a loaf of bread . What a relief that was , we would never have coped with quarantine otherwise.
