Just one week to go and we will be on our way to the start line at 1.00pm. A  the moment it looks like it may be a less than rapid charge off the line as there is very little wind forecast but that may well change ! The last week in Las Palmas has been brilliant with all the crews charging around trying to get the last jobs finished .  There have been deliveries to the pontoon of batteries , Parasailors , Danbuoys, tons and tons of food  and everything else boatie that you could imagine . All the boats are fully ‘dressed’ with all their flags giving a real festival feel to the whole occasion.

Loads of the crews have battery scooters and have  been whizzing around at amazing speed . We were sorely tempted to get a pair but have decided that though they are really useful on the flat tarmac roads of Las Palmas they may not be so useful on uneven and stoney roads in the Caribbean . That means we’ve saved another £600 to spend on important things like beer and wine.

We are really looking forward to setting off if for no other reason than we won’t have to wear are masks until next landfall which will give my ears a chance to recover , at the moment they look like two half digestive biscuits stuck on the side of my head.
