At Sea Day 4...

A day of 2 halves - from noon yesterday the wind continued to die and progress was frustrating. What little wind there was, was now  coming from the North - not good. So most of the day the engine was on. By Midnight we had only made a frustrating 57 miles.

We used the falt water to make engine and battery checks.  Mel and Mick continued to read Mountaineering disaster stories - and Chris sailed through "Mutiny on the Bounty" - he has the "Mutineers" Tea mug now ! .. Whilst Jon rustled up some Cajun Chicken rice and peas - yummy.

Jon came on deck after his mother watch and coaxed some life into Matchmakers Sails. By 2 am - on watch with Capn Pete - we were whoosing  along again at 8 knots on a smooth sea. This was the first time that son and father had shared a watch !   ( normally as mate Jon runs the ship at opposite times to the skipper ) .....We had a great time - MM became quite lively - and as the seas built with the wind -  we soon had to reef sail so as to preserve a degree of comfort below for our sleeping (?) crew !

The second half of the day, midnight to noon, we made a more respectable 81miles. Day total 138 miles.
