We woke to Squalls and heavy rain. After a
breakfast of local Bread ( 2 Euros - delivered to Matchmaker ) we got ready for
the short sail to Fort de France - the capital of Martinique. The guide book
describes Martinique as a nail-polished finger tip of on the end of an invisible
arm stretching across the Atlantic. The beaches are Palm fringed with white sand
and the volcanic hillsides are rich with tropical vegetation and banana
plantatians - it is the very essence of a caribbean island.
Approaching Fort de France and its busy littel
anchorage under the Fort we could smell the bread and hear the busy of moped and
car horns - very French.
Helen and Jen have gone ashore to buy a few items
from the market for the Christmas Festivities. We are looking forward to Thom
Groot arriving via Air France, as our special guest tomorrow
evening!
