The Sea Bream was fantastic - white and meaty and
absolutely dripped off the bone. She, (apparently all Sea bream start life as
males and then they turn into females as they mature) was trimed, scored down
her flanks, and laid in a baking tray with Maldon salt a little olive oil and a
few slices of lemon - then parcelled in foil and baked for 40 mins - served with
potatoe salad, rice and peas. She was a perfect lunch for 5 hungry
crew.
We sent out invitations to Katherines Party and all
the crew turned up - Katherine opened her cards and we sang a rendition of Happy
Birthday which has left lots of room for improvement. We then all posed for the
Birthday photograph.
Evening supper was a mild Chicken Curry. As the
evening watch started we marvelled at the sunset and then gazed at millions
of stars and constellations and shooting stars.
For the first half of the night we whooshed along -
the phosphoresense glowing and sparkling in our wake like a zip being opened
across the Ocean. The star lit night gave us excellent visability.
At 4 am the wind got up from 12 knots to 20 knots
without any warning and we had to quickly tame the sail and bring down the
shute. Andrenaline was pumping but a good job was done by all. (Our first
serious maneourve & good execution).
Morning came with steadying winds and continued
fast speeds.
The run for the day was 203nm - our fastest yet -
and enough to get us back on our trip target.
Stop Press - Calum has just landed a Dorade - a
very pretty fish twice as big as yesterdays Sea Bream - Jen has put it in
the Oven in two Baking trays! We shall let you know how it tastes... Lunch is in
20 mins....
