First 24hrs at sea....

We covered a creditable 179 miles. - which is a little bit ahead of our objective.

Yesterday afternoon was very hot and the seas were contrary as we passed to the west of Barbuda, which is to be our last sight of land until Bermuda. Peter cooked up some chicken which was wolfed down by some, tentatively eaten by others, and avoided by a few!

The crew began to settle into watch routines - and the night sail was fast and uneventful...  The moon rose in the East at 01:00hrs. - Followed by dawn at 05:45hrs. By mid-morning it was sizzling hot on deck.

We are now in 7500 metres of water - as we cross the Puerto Rico Trench. ( Deepest ever for Matchmaker )

Our time is spent triming sails and managing the boat - eating, sleeping and reading - Chris is brushing up his navigation...!
