Day
8
The
crew awoke early to begin the sail south from Admiralty Bay in Bequia to Chatham
Bay on Union Island to rendezvous with Paddie and Julian - friends of
Matchmaker. The whole crew worked well as a team each taking a turn on the helm
and assisting with navigating, lobster pot spotting and book reading.
Chatham Bay had spectacularly clear water and some beautiful reef which
was excellent for snorkelling and diving. The sighting of a Sea Turtle proved
just too much excitement for some members of the crew who needed to take a cold
shower after the swim.
We should mention that Matchmaker is currently being tailed by ‘The Dark
Aggressor’ aka ‘Death Star’ aka ‘The Dr Evil Boat’. Following on from the ‘which boat has
the best deck lighting’ showdown in Bequia the unnamed boat as predicted dropped
anchor next to Matchmaker in Chatham Bay just before sundown. We are still
unsure of their armaments or intentions but will keep a vigilant eye on their
movements.
The
crew spent the evening on dry land having a beach barbecue including Mahi Mahi
fish and Jerk chicken with friends old and new. There was much eating, drinking
and merriment which culminated in the now infamous ‘Silly String Incident’ which
Tom will recount with great embellishment for anyone who is interested. The crew
returned to Matchmaker happy and ready for top secret and clandestine operations
against the unnamed Dark Aggressor.
