Ship’s log – day 6 and 7:

Yesterday, Matchmaker and her crew successfully completed the 65 mile sail from Marigot Bay in St Lucia to the current position of Bequia Anchorage. The sail took roughly 8 hours and had much to commend it – beautiful scenery, passing the famous St Lucia Piton mountains, great sailing conditions (sunshine and a steady wind), and the passing of over 10 raggedy-looking mainly French boats along the way. All the crew helmed with distinction and also looked suitably nautical.

This morning we took on more essential supplies (fruit and vegetables to ward off scurvy and two cases of the local beer, required for blending in) before taking in the essential morning Pina Colada overlooking the beach, town and anchorage. After the second Pina Colada (not required but highly recommended), we decided to change our plans, perhaps because the weather was looking slightly iffy (see supporting photo) for the planned sail to Union Island. It was decided that we would make the best of it on one of the local beaches for the day, hoping for better luck tomorrow.
