Atlantic Crossing Day 19  - Friday  17th March 2023

After a relatively easy night, we woke to find another beam on messy sea with waves from two wind directions, as the wind had backed by some 80 degrees.

The mate sighted St Lucia’s Pitons at 0830 whilst I was asleep and with very light wind using engine assistance we motor-sailed our way into Rodney Bay by 1330. Finally securing our berth by around 1500 (it can take time overseas…) After customs/health clearance/port control etc, we are finally able to enjoy a well-deserved beer (or four).  Poor Stargazer is in a bit of an untidy mess, but she’ll wait until tomorrow and we’ll be better able to clean her up after a good night’s rest.

As I write, the mate is eager to go and get something to eat (it’s only 1815 here – GMT-4) so we’ll  sign off for now; but we’ll send a fuller update including passage summary in a few days’ time.

For now, we have just done 2,300NM (inc our detour south in the calms) to cross the Atlantic ocean and we are justifiably pleased with ourselves and of course STARGAZER!

Cheers  J
