After an overnight stop at Neyland with the opportunity for adminstration and crew change, we slipped at 0510UT on Friday and proceeded in light airs mainly under engine round west Wales and then across St George's Channel towards Dublin, arriving off Howth Harbour at 1200UT the following day.  We discovered we could not enter Howth Yacht Club Marina around low water and secured to a buoy to wait for the tide.  The passage was in marked contrast to that from the Scillies with clear skies by day and night and little wind but still very cold.

Our arrival coincided with the Howth Yacht Club annual regatta; we were made most welcome and enjoyed the excellent facilities and hospitality.  We were, however, disappointed to discover that the restaurant El Paso with its superb Mexican food had closed last September as apparently had a number of other local businesses, perhaps reflecting the economic climate?
