ARC Day 20

Starcross Fair Log
Ross Wilson
Fri 10 Dec 2010 21:50
Friday 10/12/10
Midday position 14:20.4N 47:32.0W
Noon - noon run: 110 NM (yacht log - probably under-reading)
Plan +24 Hrs: continue on great circle route to St Lucia 781 NM

Another 24 hrs of surfing (hence log under-reading) and showers as a series of squalls with gusts over 30 knots combined with giant swell to make sailing exciting and life aboard testing.  However, the fresh water showers were most welcome, and both temperature and humidity more pleasant.  With speeds up to 12 knots under twin headsails and tri-sail, we continue to make good progress.

On crossing 45 degrees West yacht's time went back another hour to UT-3.  With less than 800 nautical miles of 2,700 to go, we celebrated with a special brunch of a full cooked breakfast.  We finally landed 2 fish while flaking a headsail - photographic evidence to follow.

Yours wearily,
