Distance run 1200 - 1200UT: 112NM
1200UT  COG 080M, SOG 5.1kts, wind 120M 7.5kts, baro 1023 now rising
1200UT Temperatures: Air 18, Sea 36 (we suspect the instrument is misreading!)
Intention: to sail to Horta on Faial in the Azores (1,032NM)

After a cracking afternoon and evening sail towards the Azores, the wind died at around midnight and we have resorted to the engine with some sailing to maintain at least 5 knots since.  We expect a westerly breeze to fill in from the west by nightfall.

The first attempt at bread making provided useful exercise for our jaw muscles, the excuse being that it was a French bread mix (bought in Martinique) and the instructions (in French) were not fully understood.  We are using a tried and tested Tesco brand today and wait to see how our lunch sandwiches turn out.

I should mention that our on board crew of Dave, Enid, Henrietta and Tom continue to provide sterling service, having been reminded of how fortunate we are from our daily HF chat with Ocean Wanderer yesterday (240 miles to our East) who have managed to repair their self-steering gear.

Hopefully back in faster sailing mode by tomorrow!
