After 18 hours sailing at reasonable speeds in pleasant weather, we again resorted to engine at dawn (0605UT) when the wind died.  There are now 4 reefs in the main to reduce flogging caused by swell from the NW after another batten slide broke.  With a steady barometer and calm sea we wait expectantly for fresh wind probably from the NW or N.

The morning excitement was the sighting of 2 whales which overtook us at a stately speed, one on each side, their passage marked by regular blowing.
