When I told Alastair that I would like to join his sisters who were flying out to St Lucia to spend a week on Starcross he seemed quite excited but said I should stay in hotels, which would be far more comfortable.  Also, the boat would be full because Alex's mother - Lucy - was coming at the same time.   So the bookings were made - 2 nights in Rodney Bay, 2 in Soufriere, then back to Rodney Bay.   Lucy flew out a day earlier - by the time we arrived, she had decided to move to the same hotel, which seemed to confirm Alastair's advice.

On Sunday (16th) Alastair collected us by dinghy.  After breakfast on the boat he gave us a skipper's briefing and we put on lifejackets.  We motored out of the harbour and then had a pleasant sail south to Marigot Bay.  We moored in the outer lagoon and enjoyed a swim around the boat.  After lunch we explored the picturesque suuroundings and relaxed.   After supper on the boat, Lucy and I returned to our hotel by taxi.

Today we rejoined the boat and continued to sail south.  There were spectacular views of the Pitons as we approached Soufriere.  We moored just offshore from the Hummingbird Beach Resort, with an anchor in deep water and a mooring line tied around a coconut palm.  This was followed by swimming, lunch and a quiet afternoon.  My new hotel booking was at La Haut Resort, above the town.   As Alastair and I walked up there we saw evidence of severe landslips caused by Hurricane Thomas last October.
