By Monday mid morning a sailing breeze had materialised from the north
and full sails were set. This continued to slowly build and veer until by
midnight it was easterly 22 knots, and with 3 reefs and a very small jib we
pressed on bashing into a rough sea. It was not a pleasant night with
heavy rain and clouds obscuring the moon adding to our discomfort. Dawn at
around 100UT (sun obscured) brought some relief with the wind easing to 18
knots. However we had made good progress. Several ships crossed
our path, apparently heading to/from Florida ports. We continue
towards Bermuda on a reach at 6.5 knots, the sea is gradually
calming, the sun is shining again, and the bacon is grilling!
