Plan +24 hours: continue great circle route to St Lucia (333NM)

A lot can happen in 24 hours.  Or not, at least maybe not to the casual observer.

After some good night sailing and awesome shooting stars during the early and middle watches, the later watch suffered a wind drop and meterorite showers were replaced by downpours.  During these balmy nights, dress  on deck has become appropriately informal, with life jacket* and boxers** being my outfit of choice.

Slow progress continued through the morning.  The long-awaited wind shift (backing to NE) allowed us to get the main sail up for the first time in a week, and the rest of the day was spent pushing the wind angle as hard as possible to stay on course.

There will be no sign of land for a couple of days yet, but we did see a bird this afternoon (almost blog worthy in it's own right) that was clearly a land-based species.  With arrival in St Lucia starting to feel like it might actually happen and with a projected weakening of the wind ahead, there is a renewed sense of urgency in maximising our boat speed and making ground towards our party and flight deadlines.

Spaghetti hoops and fresh baked bread for lunch, with chilli con carne followed by apple and blackberry crumble and cream for dinner.  Yummy.
