Afternoon all. Progress hasn't been particularly quick over the last 24 hours. Winds have been variable ranging from 10 to 20 knots westerly and the forecast shift south didn't happen so we couldn't point east as per the plan which slowed down our VMG. We had quite a number of passing squalls which provided some entertainment. Karin and the ice-trucker (who were on watch at the time) had a lesson in what happens if you don't 'watch' and furl the code 0 before the squall hits....queue 27 knots of wind, boat broaching, code 0 flapping like is going to rip any second, rapping around the genoa and startled panic on there faces. We all jumped up from below and managed to get it semi-furled and down without any damage luckily.

So we continued into the night with some decent winds and a nice following 3 metre swell which was pushing us along nicely, with the odd squall which provided more downpours and occasional gusts. Wind dropped to less than 10 knots around 0400 and we ended up putting the thumper on and has remained that way until now.

LIVE UPDATE!! At time of writing we have a fish on!! The reel was going out quick and Brownwater jumped on it. We stuck the boat astern to slow down the blighty's attempted escape which was working a treat. Not sure what it was but it was jumping out the water...suspect Marlin! Sadly the story ends there....it got to within 25 meters of the boat....jumped out the water again and slipped the hook....god damn!! That's why they call it fishing....not catching.

So we're back motoring again. Heading East. There's a depression heading East which is set to pass by us tomorrow afternoon, bringing 30 knots of wind with it. Winds are set to increase this afternoon with it, so we'll likely be back under sail soon at speed.

That's all for now. Pic of the day has to be the current live action!
