Good morning all! Lovely morning on the high seas here. Myself and Private Brownwater currently on watch, local time is 0900. We're currently sailing well with 17 knots of wind which is slowly moving NW alowing us to point further east. We're not wanting to sail too north as there's quite a big depression which is going to hit in a couple of days with 35 knots and more of wind, so we'd like to stay on the edge of that if possible. We've been playing with the TimeZero routing the last 24 hours figuring out the best course to take which and we'll have another look today when we get an updated forecast.

We had relatively light winds most of yesterday and last night and the code 0 was flown for most of it with only an hour of motoring if that.

The backgammon board we bought in St Martin saw some good use yesterday when the seas allowed. Picture of the day is Private Brownwater thrashing Tomato 3-0. This is obviously by pure luck, he's got no idea what he's doing but somehow keeps winning!

UPDATE.........Sooooooo as I was writing this wondering what to say as the last 24 hours had been relatively uneventful resulting in me talking about backgammon....there was a massive bang. We both jumped and looked around to see what had gone wrong. The spinnaker halyard spinlock jammer had decided to implode under the pressure of the halyard and code 0 which resulted in an almighty shitfest comprising of: a smashed jammer, massive knot with tension on it, broken outer sheath of the dyneema halyard. We were struggling to take the pressure off the line to free the knot as everything just slipped on the dyneem core. Luckily we had some mole grips to hand which we clamped around the line to stop the binding knot slipping and managed to get it free. We had a spare spinnaker halyard in the locker and we tied it to the knackered one and ran it up the mast and have now replaced it. We've got two spare spinlocks as well so luckily the code 0 will be back up shortly after we've had a sit down and tidy up.

To add insult to injury, amongst the hullabub and bearing away to take the pressure off the halyard, we forgot the fishing lines were out the back. This resulted in the most almighty second knot and tangle of the day! And still no bloody fish!!!

So good morning! what was a lovely relaxed morning on the high seas turned out to be a busy one!

Pics of the day have to be what we've been dealing with!
