Well, nothing much is happening.  Yesterday and today have been fairly grim days.  Overcast, gray and cold.  The sea was very lumpy and rough yesterday and most of the night, and only settled early this morning.  With it being so cold, we've actually been wearing our heavy weather jackets.  Glad we brought those along.

Rean is doing most of the night watches now and sleeps in the day.  Matt and I share the dawn and day shifts.

Yesterday late afternoon we all headed out to hoist the spinnaker again.  Matt was at the helm whilst Rean and I sorted out the sail.  We had the sail up only for a short while when Rean came running from the front of the boat to the cockpit shouting for Matt to turn the boat. Mat, instinctively swung the helm hard to port.  We had no idea what was happening until we saw an enormous tree floating by us.  We must have missed it by inches.  It was enormous with roots and all. Had it not been for Matt's cat like reflexes and Rean's eagle eyes, we would surely be occupying our lifeboat right now.

So, officially we are now half way on our trip, which is not great.  We would have preferred being further but what can you do if you are dependant on the wind and there hasn't been much. We are also pretty much dead centre in the Atlantic which I think is quite an achievement.  Not many people have been where we've been.

Rean has opted for the George Clooney in Perfect Storm look... with the beard and silvery patches, which make him look oh, so distinguished. He is really upset that we have had so little wind and the trip is taking so long as a result. We are not going to make it back before Kimi's Birthday
