Where is the wind ??
We have our weather files coming in daily, but the
wind seems to always be ahead of us.... what's with that?? We have about 9 - 11
knots of true wind at the moment and the best we can do is get the boat up to
about 6.5 knots, with only the gennaker up (we took down the main as it was
blanketing the gennaker and it would not hold shape. so we have the wind at
about 100 degrees off the port side (left) and only one sail up.
Looks like this is going to be the trend for the
ext few days until a cold front comes rushing through and provides us with a
little more wind. We really have had an easy sail of it so far. The sea has been
calm and only a bit bumpy. We have been slower than we thought we would, as a
result of the lack of wind.
Put on the port side motor again, so that we could
at least do 5.5 Knots under medium power.. The engine uses about 3 litres per
hour at 2000 rpm and if we cruise at 2500 rpm, then she uses 4 litres per hour
and we only get an extra 1.2 knots...
Matt and I thought we saw a UFO... it was a bright
object that we thought was a plane, but it just stayed in the same place for
about 5 minutes, quite close.... and then in 20 seconds it was just a dot in the
sky....
I hope we make it back in time for Kimi's birthday,
but it is looking like we might not get to the Canaries before July 2nd... No
bloody wind!!!!
