We arrived yesterday at Tobago Cays. There are quite a lot of boats here but it is wonderful. We made several snorkelling excursions. One of them rather extreme on the outer edge of the Horseshoe Reef. Quite a strong current out there; fortunately the boys swimming was very strong and we survived to tell the tale. We then snorkelled inside and saw several turtles ranging from small to quite large! The coral here has been badly damaged by the recent hurricanes and bleaching from increased water temperatures due to increased global temperatures. The diversity of fish is quite good but the invertebrates and coral is not great. We are very lucky to have found the special places we have on the way down here, the Pitons and Bequia amongst the best so far.
Its pretty blowy here this morning but blue skies prevail and it looks set to be another day in paradise. Banana bread has just been delivered to the boat.
We will stay put here today and probably tomorrow and move on to Union Island on Monday and do customs and immigration to clear out of St Vincent and The Grnadines. We will re-visit some places and explore new islands on our way back up North from Grenada.
Grenada should be a good place to get some much needed supplies for boat and larder.
Good News about the cracks in the bottom of the keel - X-Yachts have said that it doesn't look to be a major problem and that it can be fixed back in the UK so we don't have to haul out to fix it here.
We are relying on Satellite internet (there is obviously no Wifi here) so photo's will follow probably from Grenada.
That's all for now - we have a spring clean of the boat planned for this morning before we can go and play!
