We made it!

Well, we made it! As you will all probably know by now we crossed the
line at 0844 local time (1244 UK) on Friday 14th December. It was an
amazing feeling and huge relief after 3007 miles and 18.5 days at sea and
we only used the engine for 12 hours of these. As we motored into the
marina to our pontoon, all of the other boats that had already arrived
cheered us in which was very moving. Overall we came 170th out of 244
boats which was a great result for a boat of our size as most of the other
boats were well over 40 foot. We stepped ashore and were presented with a
rum punch and a basket of fruit and then went for a full English breakfast
on a table that didn’t move – luxury!

And now the winner – thanks for all your entries, you ALL thought that we
were going to be much slower than we actually were! We must have thrown
caution to the wind in the final 24 hours and put up more sail and put our
foot down. However the winner was Bob Boucher who guessed 1330 UK time
which was 0930 local time only 45 minutes after we actually arrived –
congrats Bob will it be Fray Bentos pie (we have one left…) or Rum?!

Anyway thanks for watching the blog, it’s been a hell of a 3 weeks! – this
is Ondina out.
