Our own desert island complete with shark

09.31.114N 78.39.227W As we drew up to Coco Bandera Cays we saw a catamaran leaving from what looked like an idyllic anchorage in front of a deserted island. We investigated and there was enough depth for us to anchor so that is where we dropped our hook to spend an amazing few days watching pelicans diving, snorkelling amongst colourful reefs, chasing rays and yes, avoiding sharks! Why is it that when you come face to face with a shark you find you’ve left your camera at home? The shark wasn’t in the least bit bothered by us, not sure we can say the same about him! The wonderful scenery with the gentle rush of water over the surrounding reefs is just as perfect as you can get …. It’s not going to be easy to make the decision to move on. |
