We left the tranquil lagoon at Alvero at 9am with Hecla as planned, leaving a very forlorn British yacht gently subsiding onto her side after her Skipper misjudged the tides.   The exit from the lagoon gave an inkling of what was in store for us as the rollers had built up but nothing had warned of the 30 knot gusts of wind and the huge breaking waves!  We had a tremendous run with two reefs in the main and a reefed jib covering 10nm when the crow would have only travelled 4 miles!
