Well, after a magnificent start to our passage and getting a good few miles under our belt in the first couple of days we have now lost the wind.  We tried out our new gennaker(special downwind sail - good for light winds) this morning but there wasn't even enough wind to make that fly properly. We are currently motoring Northwards in the hope that soon we will make it up into the trade wind belt and pick up a decent breeze. - Generally less fun because the noise is relentless and the faint smell of diesel is enough to turn even the most hardened stomach. However the sea is pretty flat and we are all feeling OK at the moment. Our main preoccupation seems to be food and deciding what to eat for the next meal is of paramount importance.  I am thinking about pancakes for lunch!

There has been no sign of any of the other boats in the fleet since yesterday evening so we do really feel like we are out in the middle of the ocean by ourselves. We are aiming for the Minerva Reefs - two coral atols miles from any land.  Each has a small entrance into the lagoon and if the weather is right we are hoping we might be able to stop for a night on the way to Tonga - it sounds pretty amazing to be able to drop your anchor literally in the middle of the Pacific and hopefully it will provide a welcome break from the routine of watches.
