After a rather slow overcast session last night
heading into the wind, with a Bf 6 breeze and rising seas, this afternoon has
turned out to be beautiful and we are sitting out in the sunshine again having
snacks before dinner of chicken curry. Nothing much notable today, no whales, no
dolphins. The autohelm electric steering system made a nasty noise this morning
and so was switched until we get some nice calm weather to delve into the bottom
of the aft outside lockers where the motor is so we are now using the wind self
steering gear which is working nicely and doesn't require any battery
power.
So far we have averaged 5.5kts since we started.
Our best day has been 162miles and our worst (yesterday) only 98nm so if we keep
this up the trip will take 13/14 days. The wind is supposed to come round behind
us sometime soon which should help us move on a bit faster.
We are talking to some of the other boats on the
radios, there are 2 times a day when everyone who wants to, gets together and
swaps positions, weather data, shipping etc.
Missed out on showers today because the weather was
just tooo bumpy!
All for now
