Another Record shared with a Cicada

Yesterday to noon was another best run (148nm), sadly not to be repeated today. We are looking at the moment at more like 130nm rather than the 140's. The wind has slackened as forecast and we are now tracking a little more south to try and miss the worst of the dead patches.

In the middle of last night we were serenaded by a cicada somewhere in the sprya hood, how it got there we have no idea but to lie in your bunk in the middle of the atlantic being sung to by a love sick bush insect was a bit surreal. It finally gave up and moved forward after about an hour (or it semmed like it) and has not been heard of tonight.

Two reasonabley sized flying fish landed on deck yesterday. They really are amazing to watch and use the air currents on the waves just like a seabird. Photos to follow hopefully tomorrow. No sightings of dolphins for a while and none of whales at all but still the occasional sea bird (no idea what they are)

Last night was partly moonlit and earlier on tonight was brilliantly bright, now starlit and isolated clouds.

All on board well and happy but will be glad to see the half way mark (we have decided that this is at 37.5W) sometime today. This will of course require a special menu and a bottle of fizzy stuf that has been sitting in the fridge for far too long.

Still in contact with the same boats by vhf and as I write it looks like we might be overhauling soeone on the horizon (this could be another first if it turns out to be an ARC boat since we have never visibly passed anyone yet!).

Rolling a bit under main and 2 headsails again at 4 to 5kts but at least we are still moving which others haven't been.
