Trip down to Port Arthur and a very sunny day. Very sad travelling through Dunalley again, just how random fire is with houses and what a huge area was burnt. Very hard to take it in. Then at Eaglehawk Neck where the peninsula thins down to a couple of hundred meters, the fire damage stops and this fantastic view of wild bush down south happens. Dropped in to see the Officers Barracks and see the dog line were they dug a trench across the peninsular(200m) and chained 9 dogs to stop the prisoners escaping Port Arthur.

Then down to Port Arthur and this beautiful park with gardens and huge old gum trees, brilliant stone work on the church and buildings. Very hard to imagine the pain and suffering that this place meant to so many, even as late as 1996 when the lone gunman opened up.

On the way back we took a dirt road down to Fortescue Bay and the bush was so thick, bloody hard for anyone trying to walk through it, then this awesome bay, trees down to the water’s edge, white sand beach. Would make a great anchorage.

Today was working at the Wooden Boat Festival and getting the early birds tied up, I will expand later but it was worth seeing to believe. Some great boats here already. Tonight dinner with Bill , Noela and Stu Gilbert at Fish Frenzy. Bloody good.

Tomorrow Louie gets some surgery on her foot to cut out a growth so she will not be happy.
