Batemans Bay

35:42.8s 150:14.9e Our fishing friends at Ulladullah who said they would leave at 4pm and return at 3am finally left at 4.30am, so we left we then too. Had a good trip down along the coast to Batemans Bay with great scenery: hills, bush, beaches and not too many houses. Lots of sea life: dolphins, fairy penguins, mutton birds and fishermen in tinnies. Tide is too low for us to cross the bar at Batemans Bay, so anchored in Chain Bay on the northern side. Very nice and easy rowing distance to the beach . Currently surrounded by large thunderstorms. Plan to stay here till the southerly passes through then head down to Bermagui. Louie meter at 6 on the way down, till the thunderstorms here, now down at 3 out of 10. But she’d be the same at home with thunder. |
