The editor has had a word in my shell -like about a few things that need to be put straight. Firstly I hope I didn’t make you think this place is a pigsty cause it’s not. It is beautiful. It’s just that the weather has been so good we have been able to get to little bays and rocky inlets you normally couldn’t get to, and found rubbish among the driftwood. So Port Davey/Bathurst Harbour is a must, please add it to your bucket list if you haven’t already. Secondly, I was also not supposed to talk about type A’s, but they’re still type A’s.

Last night we had a some strong Northerly gusts as a precursor to the small front rapidly approaching, so we started the day with bread making, type A’s were working and I made some mats from rope we have collected on the beaches.

Then after lunch we all set out to inspect the three beaches not already explored and take Cathy to see the memorial to the lost whalers in 1846. Three of the guys were in their twenties and all fell from yard arms. Apparently there were four grave markers made from Huon Pine, but vandals burnt them as firewood a long time ago. Luckily somebody had written down what was said and a fisherman in 2004 erected these two little plaques on trees on Bramble Cove beach. We were lucky enough to come across somebody who knew of it and showed us.

We then climbed half way up Mount Misery for a great view and the girls decided they needed a swim, I went on and climbed to the top. As I was approaching the summit in a world of my own quietly talking to Mr Mallory and saying how hard it was and we were nearly there, when bang out of nowhere these two young things came bounding down from the summit. Buggers had started in another bay run up to the top and were on the way down on my side. Out went that dream and the slog continued, but the view from the top was worth it.

Tonight we have moved back to Spain Bay, one of our favorites for some fishing and if the weather goes as planned we will head off tomorrow morning for Strahan, if not we will stay another day.

Such pressure.
