Staying a second night here after some big walks. Firstly no crays, so tonight we tinnied over to some local fishermen and the type A females chatted them up and got a few ideas so, we wait.

Walked across to Stephens Bay (about an hour) to a surf beach facing the Southern Ocean. Again the sun is shining so magnificent views of the mountains, islands and the sea. We walked along the beach, only ones there and then we got into our rubbish mode and started to pick it up. By the end we had 100m of 18mm nylon net line about 50m of smaller line, two lots of net bits, whisky bottles, one old wellie and a lot of plastic. Somehow our fishermen must take some responsibility for all this mess. That aside, the girls went swimming (not for long) then we walked back. Interesting track, made by wombats and here we are following a blind animal that stands 2 feet of the ground, who said we were smart?

On the surf beach we came across some wombat tracks down a large sand dune then back up again, guess everybody wants to surf.

Came back for lunch then second walk along inside beach at Spain Bay and again we picked up 3 bags of rubbish. But beyond that this is a magic place especially when the weather is this good.

Just about to go ashore and watch the fairy penguins return home, we found lots of tracks so it should be fun.

Louie seems to accept not going ashore now. Only problem is she keeps launching herself down the ladder into the forward cabin. Maybe she’s taken a shine to Cathy, but we have to barricade the entrance when we go ashore.
