Gentle cruise down the cast today, get the confidence back for at least Louie.

Nice Nely with a small NEly swell.

Had a look at St Helens but it was low tide and all the books say don’t do it, so we didn’t. Then went and had a look at Bicheno, again not ideal conditions to sit alongside so kept going. The scars from the fires looked very close to a few houses and lots of bush burned south of the town.

Came around Cape Tourville and aimed for Wineglass, then saw Sleepy Bay just before it, awesome very deep with hills and bush all around, but an expected SEly tonight would blow straight in there. Saw fish jumping at the mouth of Wineglass so had a go but no takers. So after a NEly 15-20 all day we came in to Wineglass and expected a bit of rolly polly but no , it’s Tasmania. At the beach a beautiful offshore breeze, so nosed her in close and parked, paradise number I don’t know, just beautiful and already the first dusky flathead is in the bucket. Will leave you with my squid story in Flinders Island (that I couldn’t get thru’ on blog yesterday).  Firstly I joined the slaughter and caught 2 big squid on Thursday night. Talk about amateur hour, I didn’t know how to kill it, so donged it on the head, not good, it spat black ink all over me. Anyway apparently you just leave them and they die. How to clean a big squid? Ipad in Caro’s hand dialed into Youtube with some fool called Clive issuing instructions, after a while and some advice from a couple of blokes on the dock, and Kay on the phone, it was done. Lots of work but we cooked them last night and they were great. A huge reward after the nasty Banks Strait crossing.
