50:43.49N 01:35.95E Saturday – 0630, grey sea, grey sky, in fact everything’s grey and a bit murky but the sea is slight and the wind behind us so we’re moving on to Boulogne.  Six of us leave Dieppe in a convoy but we’re soon lost to each other in the greyness and the wind drops to nothing so it’s a motor job.  Still, another brilliant tidal stream and we’re coasting along at over 7 knots so it’s a quick way to cover 55 miles and we’re tied up in Dieppe mid afternoon.  Once again I expected this to be another big commercial harbour – and of course it is, but we’re tucked away in a little marina next to the lock and opposite the fishing boats so our little corner is fine.  Sunday – time to stroll up through the town to the old fortified area and walk round the rampants in the sunshine before returning to the maths and charts to work out our campaign to cross the Channel.
