Christmas Day

I’ve no idea whether this will post today but I might as well write my thoughts.  We feel quite battered and bruised but we’ve survived.  The internet is practically non-existent and we’ve had two power cuts but we’re self-sufficient with the boat batteries.  We had a noisy night being blown about with wind and rain but feeling quite secure, well pulled off the pontoon.  This morning was fine too, a steadily increasing wind but no problem to have a leisurely breakfast followed by coffee, biscuits and present opening.  As the day progressed the surging started and things started to get a little hairy.  The boat opposite us lost her lazy line and we could only watch as they started their engine and tried to keep the boat off the pontoon while they re-attached it.  By mid-afternoon several people on our pontoon gave up and we saw them scrambling ashore with overnight bags.  The motion on the boat was really unpleasant and we had to draw all the curtains and blinds so we couldn’t see the other boats plunging up and down.  I would have thought it funny if someone had suggested that you could be seasick on a moored boat but now I can well believe it – lunch didn’t happen and it was touch and go whether we’d want a cooked meal this evening.  Luckily things calmed down a little by 6pm so we were able to enjoy a simple dinner and an early night, now it’s back to normal wind and rain.

Anyway, enough of my moans.  I hope you’ve had a lovely day and we both wish you a very happy Christmas from Deep Blue.
