37:57.06N 08:51,95W Saturday – after a couple of days lazing in Lagos it’s time to move on and we skip out through the bridge in happy expectation of a light easterly –perfect to round Cabo de Sao Vincente.  The reality is different – zero wind!  Where’s it gone?  So, we motor round the cape and just enjoy the warm afternoon.  The breeze comes in just as it’s getting dark but it’s coming from the north and dead on the nose so we have a quite night motor sailing through calm seas to get to Sines as the sun comes up.  Sines port control calls on the radio requesting us to wait for two ships to leave before we cross to the marina.  They call us up by name so that’s a reassuring indication that our AIS (automatic identification system) is working properly and we can be seen and identified.  Photo – I wasn’t going to bore you with more lighthouses but this one at the cape is quite special, especially with the ‘iced gem’ rock alongside.
