Tales of Amok's Adventures

Greetings Land Lubbers

With the arrival of the B team on Thursday of last week, the wind has not stopped howling. Despite the boat having an abundance of doubled up mooring lines to the jetty, with large steel springs incorporated, AMOK leaps around the berth like a captive fly in a jar. The wind is forecasted to die down on Thursday; it is very very tiring. Communications on deck are difficult and just being outside is an assault. Apparently, it is always windy at this time of the year.

The A team (aka the boys) have made fantastic progress, some visible but much not. These invisible jobs are sometimes the critical ones, ie changing out valves, engine and generator service, new 12v battery etc.

The diesel cooker continues to plague us. We'll see what rabbits we can pull out of the hat today.

We celebrated Toby's 16th Birthday on Sunday. Mike managed to organise a fantastic cake from the local bakery shop which we decorated with non extinguishable candles for our amusement.

We gave Toby a small guitar which he is learning very quickly.

We were offered a lift to the local food mart by our electrician, we managed to provision the boat with all the non perishables. Big step forward.

We have been invited to a Canadian boat on Wednesday for Christmas carols, this boat comes complete with a full size built in piano up forward, an amazing feature. We were given an opportunity yesterday to have a listen; what an experience.

all for now land crabs, the cooker is calling me. (ha ha not really, but I need to take the offensive with it as I will not let it win!)

Departure still anticipated for later this week, hopefully.
take care
