Greetings and salutations to you all !

At approximately 0600 this fine blustery morning, we braced our bodies and turned a hard left into unchartered water. With great strength and wisdom, Mikey instructed the hydrovane to manoeuvre the boat to steer 90 degrees and we sailed swiftly into the morning sea with great anticipation to what the high Neptune would bring us.

The motion on the boat is dreadful. One can not move without bracing oneself. I struggle to spread my mashed avocado on toast, my feet resembling a cat's claws clinging to dear life on the sofa, as an owner tries to push the pussy cat into a bath of water.

Anyway, wind is fabulous, speed is superb-7 to 8 knots and the atmosphere on board is jolly and frivolous similar to an elf's den on Christmas Eve. We are heading straight for the great land of Australia. We had chicken and dumplings for dinner last night cooked by Chef Stirling. Stirling offered great entertainment value for us this morning when she tried to get out of her bunk. Unfortunately, she forgot about the fact that we had tacked and did a most spectacular handbrake turn with her left shoulder as the pivot point. guess that's why her right hand hangs lower than the left...

Alas, I must be off to pour another cup of tea to help render my nerves at the thought of being on board with this lot for such a long time. Also, my hourly practise of sticking my head through the cockpit to see what's happening, as a proper meerkat should do, is dutifully awaiting.

mash n beans had a shave and looks... well, like a shaved 16 year old.
