Good Evening Pilchards

Another great sailing day, a moderate amount of wind from the right direction. The night had a wave slam or two which doesn't make for restful sleep but things have calmed down now.

All are well onboard, and the generator and the cooker are both behaving themselves nicely. The generator charges the batteries much more efficiently than the main engine and is much quieter which is great. The diesel oven still sounds like it's warming up to play the bugle, wish it could learn a few more notes.

We attended our virtual birthday party at noon today, sang happy birthday to Cheryl and generally had a laugh. you need to have a laugh when you are celebrating a lady's birthday when you have never met her before, nor would you recognise her if you did meet her. 3 ships that are within 500 miles of her participated and gave her a laugh. Toby played his harmonica as background noise/music which added to the atmosphere. (added what exactly we are not quite sure).

We haven't seen a ship since St. Helena, so it feels pretty lonely out here. The night time sky is filled with beautiful stars; we need to organise ourselves a star and planet book for the next leg to learn the proper name for all the constellations, in our ignorance we have re-named some of them with some really great names: see below

"the 3 soldiers (3 stars in "a perfectly straight line in the northern part of the sky.
"the big bright one over top of us and to the right", but generally in the western sky
"the big one overhead". (and before any of you smart alecs chip in, no it was not the masthead light)

Take care wee fishes
AMOK out.
