Arrived in Teignmouth at about 1730 yesterday
afternoon to something of a good reception...
First was the welcome banner flown from the top of
the Ness cliff, then the brass band that came out on a yacht to greet me,
finally the hundreds of people on the beach and the tannoy
announcement.
There is a small chance that some of the crowd were
there for the Shaldon water carnival.
30 minutes x4 sleep on the last night - pitch black
with no moon, fog and drizzle, and a LOT of shipping about. Plenty of coffee,
cokes and lucozade for me.
Then a glorious final few hours in bright sunshine
along the coast from Salcombe, past Dartmouth and Torbay and into the Teign.
Caught a few mackerel for the evening's barbeque and had an
English-Channel-cooled beer with lunch under sail. Why go out in the ocean when
it's flat and generally lovely on the coast?!
I'm back.
