Vandaag opnieuw vertrokken uit Trygghamna, op weg
naar Poolepynten. Eerst goed ontbeten en rond 10.00 uur het fjord uit gevaren.
Onze amerikaanse vrienden volgden al snel, ook zij op weg naar het noorden.We
hebben het grootzeil opgezet en met rustige wind vaarden we het fjord uit, al
snel begon de wind toe te nemen, voor we het wisten hadden we windkracht 6 te
pakken, iets minder dan gisteren, maar toch, flinke wind en flinke
zeegang.
We hadden de wind tegen, dus kruisen. Na een paar
uur zwom er vlak langs de boot de eerste walrus, wat zou er nog meer komen?
Niets meer, de wind nam alleen maar toe, dus geen Poolepynten (daar liggen de
walrussen), uitgeweken naar het Store Jonsfjord, en wel naar de Gaffelgletsjer.
Daar liggen we nu voor anker.
Het was vanmiddag echt een harde wind, met 32
knopen per uur denderden we het fjord binnen, maar al snel daarna nam de wind in
het fjord af, de bergen beschutte ons tegen de wind.
Onderweg kwamen we ook nog de kustwacht tegen, zo'n
hypermodern stealth-schip. We maakten kontakt via de marifoon om de
weersverwachting op te vragen, wat een service, we kregen de mededeling dat ze
het persoonlijk, aan boord, kwamen vertellen!!! Ofwel, er werd een snelle boot
gelanceerd van het schip, met zes man bemanning erop, op weg naar de Twinga. Zij
kwamen langszij en zo kregen we de weersverwachting, super service.
We liggen echt heel dicht op de gletsjer, veilig,
maar toch. Zo juist viel met een donderend geraas een stuk ijs naar beneden,
toch even schrikken!

Today we left again from Tryghamna, on our way to
Poolepynten. First we had a good breakfast and round 10.00 o'clock we left the
fjord. Our American friends followed after us, also they were on their way to
the North. We raised the mainsail and with quiet winds we sailed out the fjord.
Outside the fjord the windforce quickly increased. Before we knew the windforce
was force 6, 32 knots, a lit less than yesterday but with quite big waves.
We had wind against us, so we had to cross in the
Forlandsundet against the wind. After a few hours the first walrus swam next to
the boat to welcome us. We were quite curious what more would follow......
nothing unfortunatley as the wind only increased (so no Poolepynten and no
walursses) and we looked for shelter in the Store Johnsfjord to the
Gaffelglacier. That is where we anchored know.
On our way we also met the coastguard, a very
mordern stealth ship. We made contact with them on VHF and asked the weather
forcast. What a service, they lowered a fast boat with 6 men and they personally
came to deliver the forcast. Really great!!
We are lying very close to the glacier know, on the
safe side, where the glacier is nog longer in the water but on land. But, on the
other side, where the glacier is still in the water, a big piece just came down
with a great noise!
