I’d been having sharp stabbing pains in my right ear and on my skull but hadn’t thought too much about it until the day before Alan and I went shopping for last-minute fruit and vegetables. Having consulted Dr Google I decided I probably had neuralgia so went into a pharmacy for some treatment. However the pharmacist asked my symptoms and suggested I went over the road to a walk-in medical centre to see a doctor. Half an hour later I had a prescription to treat shingles. The doctor said it was lucky I saw him when I did as it is possible to cure it straight away, if treated within 48 hours. I took the course of tablets and have been fine ever since.
