2^nd July, 2013 – Musket Cove, Fiji, to Anatom, Vanuatu

While in Fiji we said goodbye to Jack and welcome aboard to Roger Hart, a 27-year-old former barista from Maryland, USA.  Roger joined the Oyster fleet in Panama and had been given a berth on several yachts before finding himself “homeless” and in need of a lift to Australia.

Having space available we were happy to help out and although he was not a very experienced sailor he said he was hoping to learn a lot from the Sulana School of Sailing – with Alan delighted to oblige. He brought along his guitar and flute but sadly we didn’t get to hear too much of his music. Maybe he was shy!

On our five day sail to Vanuatu  he and Will made a good team on the fishing front, with Will catching a couple of small yellow-fin tuna at the same time on the one line and a couple of mahi-mahi (both of which were so small they were put back). Things got better later on though…..
