There is a real difference in the sea conditions this morning and the wind has built over night to a force 5/6. Rounding Ushant to port we saw maybe 5 or 6 lighthouses, the French clearly don't want anyone to hit it! We are powering along under full sail with the boat speed touching 10 knots, great sailing! Although the swell was giving us a first taste of what the bay had in store.
At 14.00 we have a reef in both the genoa and the main and are still cruising along at 9.5 knots, then came the second dolphin sighting.
The weather is a little rougher so we watched from behind the sprayhood.
Later on in the afternoon all was quiet when a roaring filled the sky and from behind the sprayhood came a light aircraft, so low and close we could see it just above the Rib slung in our davits. The plane dipped its wings and was gone again.
Now we are well and truly into La Golfe de Gascogne, as our French friends insist on calling the Bay of Biscay.
