Five Islands Harbour
43.49.367N 069.42.504W 17.8 Miles Logged The Basin gave us a peaceful night and while the morning started grey and cloudy we headed out of the narrow channel and back into Casco Bay past Sebasco and Cape Small. Departing the Basin Anchorage Gradually the wind came in from the North and we had a lovely fresh beat leaving Seguin Island to Starboard and up the Sheepscot River where we entered Five Islands Harbour and picked up a courtesy mooring kindly provided by the F.I Yacht Club. We headed ashore to the pier and treated ourselves to a lobster lunch eaten on picnic tables on the pier; very tasty and enjoyable! After a walk we came back aboard when the Najad 40 “Mawari” came in and Bob and Sue came over for evening drinks. We were all impressed when the residents of one of the islands all gathered at their dock at 1800hrs for a drinks party, all smartly dressed. Even more impressed when one of them came over in his dory wearing a blazer, introduced himself as Commodore of the FIYC and thanked us for bringing such a beautiful boat to their harbour! We had a good walk on Sunday morning in the pine forest and we were back at the boat when Bill Roesner aboard the Nic31 “Blueprint” came in and rafted alongside- Bill had had his boat at Ardfern for 2 winters 10 years ago! |
