Went ashore for a look around the small "summer"
village of Larmor Baden which is once again very neat and tidy. So many houses
have shutters closed it gives a slight "ghost town" air to the place although
the same seems to apply to all the small villages we have been to. Got some boat
jobs done and important things like haircuts! Despite the quiet of the village
the pier is always busy with a little ferry and locals fishing and it seems that
every 10 minutes there is a rib or small boat launched at the slipway.
In the early evening Simon and Shirley came down to
see us aboard Moonbeam. Simon was at college in Southampton with me and they
last visited us at Loch Melfort in 1979 so it is over 30 years since we had seen
them. They have a business selling small boats nearby and we went to their home
for a very enjoyable dinner.
Sunday ashore again early to visit the market and
after lots of tasting purchased some superb salad ingredients and
meats.

went north to the west of Ile aux Moines and anchored just north of Ile d'Irus.
Saw a great variety of boats of all sizes on the way from hi tech trimarans to
traditional local boats.
![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() The anchorage is most attractive but it was
impossible to anchor out of the tide but the Delta held firm. Some beautiful
houses about.
![]() ![]() Anchored off this house with oyster beds all
around
![]() Not sure where this lorry was going being pushed by
15hp outboard in a strong tide!
