departed at 06.00 with a distance to Figueira de Foz of about 64 miles. The
marina there had been full so we did not want to risk arriving too late in the
day. The forecast was for NE4 to 5 but we got NNW2  which was enough
to give us any speed to do the distance in the day so we motored until only 4
miles from our destination the wind increased to over 20 knots and we had half
an hour of good sailing!  While once again there was a haze over the
shoreline this stretch of coast is not built up and there is one beach that is
25km long! The approach to Fig Foz is a bit off putting with high rise blocks
and packed beaches to the North but once in the river the character
changes. The marina is small and friendly and right on the front of the old town
so we ambled to a street cafe for an economical meal before retiring for a
quiet night's sleep! approaching harbour- new breakwater extension Wednesday A visit to the biggest market so far to top up
supplies followed by a very lazy afternoon. |
