The four of us took a taxi from Sampetiki to Leinidiou to see the local farmers market which is on Mondays and to investigate the town. On the ride into town we passed a large area of greenhouses. In town the houses are of great design and are very well looked after. There are several bridges over a very dried up river. You could imagine in winter probably several years again as lots of shrubs and trees now grow on the river bed the water running under the bridges and with the huge mountains in the back ground a very beautiful town. The taxi driver wasn’t happy about the forecast rain today as he said it was not the right time for the plants to have rain. We did have thunder and heavy rain most of the afternoon.
For the last few years climbers from all over the world have visited Leonidiou in the winter for the climbing. The cliffs are over 3000 feet but very dangerous.
