We left Horta without having completed the tradition of painting the name
of the boat on the wall of the marina. It is supposed to be bad luck to leave
without doing so, but we risked it! This was more to do with the fact that we
had no paint and even less inspiration. However those who had made the effort
contributed to a colourful mural that covered every flat surface within half a
mile of the marina office.
![]() We sailed to Angra de Heroisma on the island of Terceira. The waters around
Horta are teeming with dolphins and whales, but though we saw dolphins aplenty
and even a turtle, the whales continued to be elusive.
The town is much larger than Horta and the unexpected appearance of the sun
made for a glorious day. We explored the town and the parks and gardens mindful
that the weather is set to change yet again over the next day or so.
