Fixes and Delays

We’ve been having the sort of time that the boating life leads to.
Much progress has been made with most of the jobs that we had planned
- either fix failed systems from last year’s trip, or to improve safety
this year.
But.....in the boating world not everything goes to plan.
The electrical guys were due to install a new AIS and a radar
detector/enhancer 3 days ago. It turned out that their visit was simply to
case the work, and not to actually do it. Heavy driving rain then stopped
them doing any work the next day. The day after that they were catching up
with their delayed jobs. Today they (two really pleasant and hard working
people) did the installation, but the manufacturer of one of the units included
the wrong version of one vital connector, and they’ll have to return tomorrow
with an alternative component.
New problems have sneaked in. Today for the first time we tried to
use the gas stove to have a flame to seal the end of some ropes. This
revealed a significant gas problem which has pushed back completion and
departure a little more. Delay in the departure date is starting to be a
concern.
The good news. We’ve been working on deck in 6 –8 degrees C for a
good slice of the day and it’s colder outside now, but inside the RNSYS
luxurious clubhouse it is warm, and hot tea is available. Lovely.
